Mar 10, 2025 | Event News, Updates

Prof. Jon Jureidini, Dr Sam Snelling and Dr Natalie Aboustate had the privilege of presenting in Perth at the esteemed Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Conference ‘GP24’ on the importance of social prescriptions and the power of watchful waiting in healthcare. The session highlighted how GPs who truly know their patients can offer tailored patient cantered care, with the flexibility to bring patients back for follow-up reviews and ensure their ongoing well-being.

The workshop covered:

  • creative approaches to the complexity of SDH and social prescribing, recognising the constraints of general practice
  • using positive, non-pathologising language with patients, validating any distress about (un)employment .
  • social prescribing pathways

A copy of Language Matters: Appropriate Language Guide for Supporting People in Distress was provided to attendees.

The engaging discussion emphasised the key benefits of social prescribing, from fostering community connections to addressing social determinants of health. Audience participation sparked insightful conversations about its potential to improve overall patient outcomes.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us! We look forward to have more opportunities like this to share this important message!
